5 Surprising Uses for Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is an essential oil derived from the Melaleuca alternifolia tree, originating in Australia. This incredibly powerful oil is both an antiseptic and anti-microbial. You can find tea tree oil in any health food store, most pharmacies and even some grocery stores. Be sure to buy 100% tea tree oil and not a diluted version.
You can literally use tea tree oil just about anywhere! Here are 5 great uses for this amazing oil.
- Acne – using a cotton swab, apply a small amount of tea tree oil directly to a blemish, morning and night. It should disappear in days.
- Stuffy Nose – boil a pot of water and remove from stove. Add 5 to 10 drops of tea tree oil to the pot. Drape a towel over your head while leaning over the pot and inhale the vapour gently for approximately 10 minutes or until water turns cold. Alternatively, you can add 10 drops to a vaporizer.
- Sticker Removal – to remove the residue left by a product label on a bottle you wish to reuse for example, remove as much of the label as you can prior to applying tea tree oil on the remainder until it is saturated. Let sit for 15 minutes or longer. Wipe with a warm, wet cloth.
- Tree Sap – those annoying blobs of tree sap on your precious car can be easily removed with tea tree oil. Just apply a few drops of tea tree oil to the sap spot, let sit for 5-10 minutes and rub clean with a soft cloth.
- Insect Repellent - simply put a few drops of tea tree oil into the palm of your hand, rub hands together and dab onto clothing and exposed skin.
